ABS Ecu are electronic engine management systems that control, monitor and maintain the Anti Break System of the car and allow it to function properly.
Faulty ABS Ecu warnings signs
If you have switched on the ignition of your vehicle and notice that your ABS warning light remains on - then it may have a fault. This usually occurs when there is a history of the ABS light operating intermittently for some time. The light indicates that the ABS system has switched off and the automatic anti-lock function is NOT operating, although the brakes remain effective.
When the warning light is on, your ABS Ecu has detected a fault. To establish if there is a fault the logged fault needs to be read. There are two ways to do this. First by using a TECH1 reader which is an expensive bit of equipment and you would normally need to go to a professional. Another way is to use a paper clip and is completely free and accurate. The paperclip can be used to short out the two pins in the ALDL connector (blue test connector located in the engine bay at the back or near the fuse box) to create a chart that can be used to check the amount of flashes and pauses in the monitoring system and pinpoint where the fault occurred. Most experienced drivers will say that ECUs are usually not faulty, but they do fail occasionally.
The ABS ECU is independent of the engine, and are standard in modern vehicles. We can supply engine management systems for all makes and models. Contact the team here at Breakeryard who will make sure you get the best deal fast.
