boom in online sales of second hand cars Boom in online sales of second hand cars

There has been a surge in the number of people buying and selling second-hand vehicles since the start of 2012.

That is according to new figures from car auction group BCA, which revealed that a new weekly record for online sales was hit in January.

Between January 16th and 21st, 3,198 vehicles were sold via the company’s online market place, with more than £3 million bid for cars by internet customers.

During the period, online buyers accounted for 25 per cent of all sales at BCA, against around 20 per cent for a typical week.

It extended a pattern seen in 2011, during which BCA surpassed the 100,000 benchmark for vehicles sold online in November.

In total, 120,000 cars were auctioned to internet customers during the year, significantly up on 2010′s figure.

Motorists’ willingness to make use of the convenience of buying cars online could also be extended to car parts.

Drivers can find a wide range of used car parts online through a car part finder such as BreakerYard.
