About Isle of Wight

From its position in the English Channel, around 6km off the coast of Hampshire, the Isle of Wight represents the largest and second most populous island of England. The island’s largest industry comes from tourism, cementing its status as a popular holiday destination thanks to a milder sub-climate than most other areas of the UK. This influx of tourists does unfortunately mean that congestion is an issue.

The quickest public transport link to the mainland is by hovercraft or ferry, and there are ports in Fishbourne, East Cowes and Yarmouth - causing high levels of traffic in this areas as a result of ferry passengers. Ryde in the north east of the island represents the island's largest town, with a population of around 30,000, and due to this high population can suffer with traffic and congestion issues.

The Isle of Wight has a total of just under 490 miles of roadway, formed from major roads running between the main towns and smaller roads connecting the villages. It is one of the few counties in the UK that does not have a motorway, although there is a dual carriageway in Newport, the county town, to help transport around the island's hospital and prison. Thankfully  the lack of motorway does not impact the transportation of replacement car parts, allowing Breakeryard.com to respond to the high demand in the area.

Local authorities on the island reported that in 2010 the number of road deaths had reached worrying heights, with accidents equally spread rather than focused on specific black spots. The nature of the small country roads does unfortunately lead to a high number of speed-related accidents. The Smallbrook crossroads near Ashley was one specific area named as the subject of upgrades after earning a reputation as a notorious accident blackspot.

The International Classic Car Extravaganza has been a favourite on the island for 14 years, and is well worth a visit with cars from all over the UK and mainland Europe on show.

Very quick and efficient service. ...

Just to say the response was very good although we did not actually purchase a part as we managed to get one locally I would not hesitate in using you ...
