Car Pulling To Left or Right (All Models With Lane Assist)
Problem:
While driving, you have to struggle with the steering wheel because it wants to pull to one side.
Solution:
One of the most commonly reported issues with the i30, but this couldn’t be easier to resolve. The problem is that your lane assist function has not been turned off properly. Even if you have turned it off from the dashboard, the i30 still allows for minimal lane assist driving. You have to go into your settings if you want to turn it off completely.

Peeling Steering Wheel
Problem:
The leather on your steering wheel is peeling off.
Solution:
This is very common to see, particularly on older models. There are no repair options to consider here. You will have to find the right steering wheel from our list of i30 parts and replace the steering wheel entirely.

Juddering While Driving (All Diesels)
Problem:
The car judders when you’re accelerating or cruising.
Solution:
This is a commonly reported issue with the i30, and there isn’t much that you can do about it yourself. The only cure is a complete software update, so you will have to take the car to a Hyundai specialist.

Windscreen condensation
Problem:
The windscreen on the i30 is prone to a higher than usual condensation build up. This problem is caused by a failure of the windscreen seals, which allow water into the cabin. With this problem, you may also notice that there are damp patches on the carpets or elsewhere in the front of the car.
Solution:
You will need to replace the windscreen seals to sort the problem. If your car is still under warranty, Hyundai will fix the problem free of charge. Otherwise it is your responsibility.

Hand brake failure
Problem:
If you have been finding that the handbrake is not holding the weight of the car, particularly on a hill, then the handbrake needs reset at a dealers. When you apply the handbrake on a hill and if it rolls back slightly, you need to get this seen to asap.
Solution:
As mentioned above, you need to have the handbrake reset at a Hyundai dealer. This should be covered under warranty.

Radio failure
Problem:
There are known issues with the radio on this car. There have been several reports of the radio not being able to find a signal, continually searching for a signal as you drive. The video below shows another issue with the radio:
Solution:
If the radio is less than 3 years old, Hyundai will replace it under warranty, otherwise you will need to send it off to get it fixed.

Air conditioning problems
Problem:
If you are finding that the air conditioning on your i30 is not blowing out ice cold air on the colder settings, then this is caused by a fault with the condenser. The condenser is located behind the radiator and can get damaged by debris and stones etc.
Solution:
You will need to replace the condenser if it is damaged. This will fix the problem. We can help you find a replacement condenser at a very low price.

Stuck Handbrake
Problem:
The hand brake doesn’t release.
Solution:
This caused a recall of the Hyundai i30, but only on those built between January and February 2012. The problem is caused by faulty sealing on the handbrake callipers. You will need to replace the callipers if your handbrake isn’t releasing, making sure that you have sealed the replacements correctly. We have a range of handbrake callipers available to buy.

Sunroof Won’t Open or Close
Problem:
You can’t get the electric sunroof to open, or it won’t close.
Solution:
The anti-pinch function, which is designed to stop the sunroof from trapping your fingers, will often malfunction in i30s built in 2018. You will need to order a replacement sunroof motor from our parts list and replace the faulty one.
