Mazda MX-3 Common Problems and Solutions
Oil leak
Problem:
If you take the spark plug lead off the spark plug and find oil leaking around this area, it is caused by a leaking cam cover gasket.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement cam cover gasket will resolve the issue.

Misfiring/lack of power
Problem:
Is your MX-3 struggling with engine misfiring and/or a lack of power under acceleration? If it is, the MAF sensor will be the most likely cause. Is this video anything like your problem?
Solution:
The first thing to try is cleaning the MAF sensor with some MAF sensor cleaner and refitting. This should sort the problem, but if not you will need to fit a replacement MAF sensor to sort it out.
Difficulty level
Water pump failure
Problem:
The MX-3 has known issues with the water pump leaking, causing overheating. This seems to be a particular problem on the V6 engine. If you have noticed that the water levels in the coolant reservoir are very low, or there is water leaking onto the ground then this will be the most likely cause.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement water pump to fix the problem. We can help you find a replacement water pump at a very low price.

Front coil spring problems
Problem:
There has been several issues with the front coil springs breaking on the car. If you are noticing that the car is leaning slightly to one side, or is a bit lower at the front then this would be the cause.
Solution:
This issue has been subject to three different recalls, so there is a good chance it will be covered under recall. If not, we can help you find a replacement front spring at a very low price.
