Problem:
The usual cause of an oil leak on the Galant is the driveshaft seal. If you have noticed oil leaking onto the floor, this would be the first place to check. The leak will be coming from the back of the engine.

Replacing the driveshaft seal should rectify the situation.

Engine management warning light
Problem:
If the engine management warning light has appeared on the dashboard, it is usually caused by an engine sensor. The usual faulty engine sensor on this car is the crankshaft position sensor.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement crankshaft position sensor to sort the problem.

Lack of power/misfiring
Problem:
The throttle body can get clogged up on this car. If it does it can lead to a lack of power at higher speeds and unresponsive acceleration. You may also be noticing that the engine is misfiring. These are common symptoms of the throttle body being blocked.
