The
Sao Penza was a car sold in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s by Automotive Holdings, a subsidiary of Mazda Cars Ltd, the official UK importer. It was simply a rebadged identical version of the Mazda 323, imported from South Africa, where the 1985 model was still assembled by Samcor (now Ford Motor Company of South Africa.) Both saloon and hatchback versions were available with a fairly basic specification such as 1.6L SOHC EFI engine (B6 designation), Power Windows/Mirrors and Sunroof, Central Locking, Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Electronically adjustable suspension with normal, sport or cruise, Larger than normal sway bars, Factory 14x6" alloys
Electronic heater controls and so on. The 323 remains to this day one of the most successful cars made in the country and many models made across the years can still be seen in the streets of most Colombian and Andean cities. Oddly enough, the "boxy" look that characterized the vehicle remained until production's end due to the demand of the local market for the car's lines.
