Door locks problems

Problem: The Xsara Picasso is known for having problems with the door locks. The central locking remote control which is built into the key is known to fail. This means that the alarm won't work but you can still lock the doors manually. There are also known issues with certain door locks not operating as they should.

Solution: Depending on which problem you are facing, you will either need to get the key fob fixed or you could first check to see if it is just the battery needing replaced (Watch the video below to see how this is done). Recalls

The Citroen Xsara Picasso was in production for 11 years yet there are only four recalls listed on the Department for Transport recalls database for this vehicle. You should always check for any recall issues relating to your vehicle to make sure you have them fixed, as it is always the responsibility of the manufacturer to fix them free of charge if it is due to their own errors. We have listed these recalls below and you can access the full details of each by following the links.

  • Insecure rear damper - 09-10-2009

Citroen recalled a number of cars built between 3rd April 2009 and 15th April 2009 due to concerns that the rear damper may become loose. The recall took remedial action by checking the conformity of damper lower fixing bolts and replacing them if they were not secure.

  • Reduced seat belt restraining ability – 19-12-2008

An issue arose from concerns that the seat belt restraining ability may have been affected, causing Citroen to recall cars built between the 6th and 9th April 2008. Recalled vehicles were checked and seat frames replaced if the frame was not robust enough around the seat buckle, improving safety.

  • Suspension ball joint may disengage – 25-09-2000

Citroen recalled vehicles in 2000 due to concerns that the suspension ball joint may disengage due to the incorrect machining of the ball joint clamp bolt hole on the pivot. This could lead to the ball joint disengaging, so Xsara and Xsara Picasso models were recalled to allow the pivots to be checked and replaced if necessary.

We’re sure that there are other common problems affecting the Citroen Xsara Picasso that we have not mentioned. If you can’t spot your issue then don’t panic, it could still be a common one - our list is not exhaustive.
