What is a Thermostat Housing?
The majority of all problems that lead to a break down with the thermostat housing is when the casing cracks. The rubber seals around the edge can over heat and fold inwards. It can take about an hour and a half to resolve, and swap for a new one. When these cracks occur (which can be down to the enclosed heat levels when the engine is running), then it is easy for water to miss the gasket altogether. When changing the thermostat housing simply remove the thermostat inside and insert into the new one. You should always check the hose pipe from the radiator connection as this can also be a problem during break down. The hose connects directly into the thermostat housing.
