The supermini class has some serious competition including the likes of the BMW Mini, Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa. The new 2014 facelifted version of the third generation Toyota Yaris is aiming to make this little Japanese car compete with the better known and more popular supermini cars, but can it be a serious contender? The Toyota Yaris was first released back in 1999 and has undergone some major changes to bring it in-line with the competition. You can read our full Yaris history and review here. The new Yaris is available from as little as £10,114 and is available in several different trims from the entry level Active trim to the top of the range Excel trim. The engines available are the 1.0L and 1.33L petrol and 1.4L diesel, with the 1.4L diesel being the most economical. The new exterior design gives it a classy look and takes it away from the previous versions which were known to be reliable, but very dull looking. There is a wider front grille and LED rear lights. The interior design also gives the Yaris a more upmarket look and feel. The new interior and exterior looks certainly make the Yaris a more desirable looking car but it does not have the greatest driving position and the ride can be a bit firm. We do not think it can seriously compete with the Ford Fiesta, VW Polo or Vauxhall Corsa but it is a much improved car over previous generations. What do you think of the 2014 Toyota Yaris?
