WORKERS at a car parts firm that has gone into administration have been told their jobs are safe for now. Drivelink UK, which employs 53 staff at its base on the Team Valley Trading Estate, in Gateshead, will continue to trade while a buyer is found, administrator KPMG Restructuring said. The company, which is one of Europe’s leading independent automotive component engineering remanufacturers, said it had been hit by the loss of a key customer last year. Howard Smith, joint administrator, said: “The problems faced by Drivelink are typical of those facing many UK component manufacturers, who have been left highly stressed as a result of the downturn in the wider automotive sector.
