Car parts production must improve

The market for automotive engineering jobs could improve in 2010 if predictions about the vehicle manufacturing industry's output prove correct. A recent report by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that car production rose by 15.7 per cent in November, while the pace of decline in commercial vehicle output slowed. The car industry has been one of the highest-profile stories of the recession, with thousands of automotive engineering jobs lost around the world. However, with the help of the government's scrappage scheme, the industry has shown some signs of recovery in the UK.
