More than 80 cars went up in flames as a blaze broke out at a breaker's yard last night. Firefighters were sent out to the fire in Silverlake Garage in Botley Road, Shedfield, at 7.55pm yesterday. Crews from Wickham, Botley, Bishops Waltham, and Hightown fire stations were sent to the scene, along with two water carrier appliances froADVERTISEMENTm Fareham and Eastleigh. The fire service said around 80 insured cars were involved in the blaze. Fire investigation officers and police are set to carry out an investigation into how the fire started, although early indications show that it may have started in one of the vehicles. Tom Carr, group manager of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: 'Our fire crews worked extremely hard in very hot conditions, ensuring that safety was paramount and that the fire was confined to a small section of the breakers yard. 'Silverlake's on site management and storage facilities, with vehicles stored in a three-bay racking system, along with good access around the yard, also assisted with the containment of the fire.'
