More Car Parts Jobs are secured

The future of 70 jobs at a car parts firm in Powys appears secure despite the company announcing that a sister plant in Coventry could close. Stadco in Llanfyllin blamed the recession for making about 80 workers redundant earlier this year. But it now plans to close a factory in Coventry with the loss of 165 jobs and create 86 posts at its other UK sites. Stadco has other plants in Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and Llanfyllin. The company is part of the Acertec car components firm which supplies Land Rover, BMW and Peugeot. A Stadco spokesman said: "If the decision is taken to shut the plant in Coventry then the company believes up to 86 jobs could be created at other Stadco sites in the UK.
