The Carburettor which is also called a Carb is a mechanism that mixes together air and fuel for the use of an engine. It was released to be used 1893 and was thought to have been invented a few years prior. Carburettors were used for fuel for most engines up to the middle of 1980’s; it was after the 1980’s that fuel injection became the preferred means but Carburettors are still found in smaller even today.

Most cars that have carburettors in their engines have a single carburettor and can be called an updraft if they are the older cars; however some cars use multiple carburettors. Updraft carburettors are where the air enters from below the carburettor and exits through the top. This had the advantage of never "flooding" the engine, as any liquid fuel droplets would fall out of the carburettor instead of into the intake manifold. The faster air moves in the Carb, the lower its pressure; the accelerator connection does not directly control the flow of liquid fuel.
