About Doseur Valvess
A Alfa Romeo doseur valve (sometimes known as a doser valve), plays a key part in a vehicle’s hydraulic braking system. Its job is to send brake fluid, which has been converted in to hydraulic pressure to the vehicle’s brakes.
The Alfa Romeo doseur valve is located by a LMH reservoir which holds hydraulic fluid. The doseur valve goes in to operation when the brake pedal is pressed by sending the pressurised hydraulic fluid from the reservoir to the brake lines. The level of pressure is crucial in ensuring that the brakes work. Too little pressure and the brakes will fail.
It’s also key that there is no air in the system. This will result in a delay between the pressing of the brakes and the brakes working, which could be fatal. Any delay in the activation of brakes should be immediately checked by a reputable garage.
Other signs of a Alfa Romeo doseur valve failure could include the vehicle leaking hydraulic fluid. This green coloured liquid may be seen on the ground under the vehicle. You may also see a lit warning light on your dashboard to tell you that there is an issue with your vehicle’s braking system.
Alfa Romeo trivia
- One of the most famous onscreen appearances of an Alfa Romeo was in the James Bond film Octopussy when the superspy stole a graphite GTV6. The car brand shows up again in Quantum of Solace, racing against Bond’s Aston Martin.
- The Alfa Romeo logo has some really weird imagery. There are dashes of the Milanese coat of arms, and a terrifying picture of a snake eating a man. That image comes from the Visconti family crest, who used to rule Milan.
- Due to tax shenanigans, the very first Alfa-branded car was named the 24HP, even though it came with a 25 horsepower 4.1-litre engine. It was quick and could do a satisfying 62mph, despite having wooden spoke wheels.
- The first-ever F1 driver’s championship happened in 1950, and it was won by Giuseppe Farina thanks to the lightning-quick Alfa Romeo he was in. A history of Grand Prix racing served Alfa Romeo well for that first Formula 1 race, but they stopped being involved in the competition back in 1988 until making a return in 2019.
- It is rumoured that the Alfa Romeo was one of Henry Ford’s favourite car designs. The story goes that he would always take off his hat as a sign of respect when he saw one on the roads.
