About Oil Pressure Sensor Switchs

The Alfa Romeo oil pressure sensor switch is a sensor which works to monitor and measure the oil pressure levels in the oil tank. The oil pressure sensor switch will cause the oil pressure level warning light to illuminate on the dashboard when oil pressure levels are low.

The oil pressure sensor switch is usually located on the side or back of the engine block next to the oil filter, just above the oil tank, near the starter.  The sensor bolts directly onto the engine.

The oil pressure sensor switch will usually have a double wire harness plugged into the sensor, with a connector attaching directly to the sensor. The oil pressure sensor switch should sit tightly secured in place.  The oil pressure sensor switch is part of a range of clever engine sensors that all function to provide the car's ECU (Engine Control Unit) vital information about the engine. This information is used by the ECU to make adjustments to ensure the engine is operating at its optimum.

If the oil pressure sensor switch is faulty the warning light will illuminate on the dashboard indicating that there is a fault. When replacing this part, it is vital that the replacement part is compatible with the car. Specifically designed for the make and model of your vehicle, the Alfa Romeo oil pressure sensor switch is the ideal choice.

Alfa Romeo trivia

  • There was a long period where Alfa Romeo simply stopped selling cars to the USA. Exports stopped in 1995 and didn’t resume again until 2015 when they launched the 4C sports car.
  • The lighter designs of Alfa Romeos has seen the company get a lot of racing success. They have performed exceptionally well at Le Mans, the Mille Miglia, and the Vanderbilt Cup. Perhaps their personal favourite victory was the 1923 win at the Targa Florio, a famously challenging competition.
  • The history of Alfa Romeo has more than a touch of Ferrari in it. Enzo Ferrari himself was the man who ran the racing team of Alfa Romeo, and he did so for around a decade. That world-famous prancing pony logo was even seen on more than a few Alfa Romeo sports cars.
  • The Alfa Romeo logo has some really weird imagery. There are dashes of the Milanese coat of arms, and a terrifying picture of a snake eating a man. That image comes from the Visconti family crest, who used to rule Milan.
  • In the 1960s, Alfa Romeo shifted their designs and started manufacturing a line of more luxurious models. One of the most popular was the Alfa Romeo 2600, one of which was even owned by the Pope.
