About Oil Filler Caps

The Audi oil filler cap is a small cap usually made of plastic which is placed on the oil inlet as  a protective covering.

The Oil Filler Cap can be found beneath the bonnet, usually located on top of the engine block, directly on the oil inlet. The cap will usually have a picture of an oil can on it and be in clear view. The oil filler cap normally has a diameter of between 2-5 inches  and is circular in shape.

The Audi oil filler cap prevents dust, dirt and other unwanted debris from entering the oil supply. Dirty engine oil is not good for the car engine and will affect the performance of the engine as well as potentially causing damage to other vital engine components.

If the oil filler cap is lost or broken it will need replacing as soon as possible. Oil could potentially leak out if the cap is missing or broken and dirt etc. could get into the oil supply. The Audi oil filler cap is the perfect replacement part, specifically designed for the make and model of your vehicle, it will be perfectly compatible.

Audi trivia

  • Audi has been responsible for many firsts in car design. One of the most impactful was the introduction of the dual-clutch gearbox, first seen in the Quattro S1 E2. Now, of course, they are commonplace.
  • The word Audi is a Latin translation of the word Horch, which incidentally is where we get the word audio from!
  • The oldest car race event in the world, the 24hr Le Mans, has been won by Audi an impressive 13 times, most of which were in the classic R8 racer.
  • The Audi Type K was the first car with left-hand steering as standard. This was one of Audi’s most popular cars, especially in Germany.
  • The Audi R8 is made very unusually, and only 20 are rolled out of their factory on any given day. That’s because it's considered an honour to work on this model, and only the top 120 Audi employees are qualified enough.
