About Steering Column Stroud Covers
A Audisteering column stroud cover is a component that is designed to preserve the integrity of the steering column in front of the dashboard of the car. The steering column is the mechanism that connects the steering wheel to the steering mechanism and transfers the input of the driver, in turning the steering wheel, to the movement of the wheels themselves. In addition, the steering column section of the car houses various electrical components and wires as this location allows easy access to other areas of the electrical system such as the fuse box.
A Audisteering column stroud cover is generally made from plastic and is coloured black. It comes in two separate pieces. One of these is fitted below the steering column whilst the other is attached to the top side. Both sections have pre-drilled screw holes. These two pieces are joined together to completely enclose the steering column.
As it is important to ensure that no part of the steering column is exposed, it is essential to replace the Audisteering column stroud cover if it is damaged. The part is inexpensive and easily replaceable. Because of its straightforward design it is also relatively simple to fix a new Audisteering column stroud cover to a car’s steering column.
Audi trivia
- The word Audi is a Latin translation of the word Horch, which incidentally is where we get the word audio from!
- Audi was the first manufacturer to use four-wheel drive cars in the World Rally Championship. Consistent wins meant that the WRC soon allowed all cars to use the technology.
- The classic Audi ‘four-ring’ logo is instantly recognisable and is meant to symbolise the four companies that make up the main trading arms of Audi.
- If you’ve ever looked at an Audi RS and mistaken it for a Porsche, you haven’t gone mad. The car was actually a collaboration with Porsche, and the RS has the distinctive grille and tailgate of the famous sports car.
- Audi was founded after the German engineer August Horch fell out with the co-founder of his first manufacturing company. He called the new company August Horch Automobilwerke GmbH, which doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
