About Fog Lamp Blanking Plates

The Citroen fog lamp blanking plate is situated on the front of the vehicle and is attached to the chassis under the bumper. The purpose of a Citroen fog lamp blanking plate is to neatly cover the empty space on a vehicle where a fog light would have been installed. Citroen fog lamp blanking plates are made of a plastic material and come in a variety of colours and finishes to compliment a range of vehicles, though the most commonly used colours are grey or black which are installed by vehicle manufacturers as standard. Some people find that these do not suit the cosmetic appearance of their vehicle and so may install one in a similar colour to their vehicle. Alternatively, it’s also possible to install fog lights in the place of blanking plates, but this is often at large cost to the vehicle owner.

Some Citroen fog lamp blanking plates can be latticed, which can cover up an existing fog light rather than removing it. This has the added benefit of being able to use the lamp, whilst also hiding its appearance. However, this grille makes it more difficult to clean the fog light underneath.

Citroen trivia

  • Between 1925 and 1935, the Eiffel Tower was just a big, pointy billboard with the word 'Citroën' in bright lights from top to bottom. This was the first use of lights to advertise on the tower, and Citroën renewed the adverts every year until they were bought out by Michelin.
  • Thanks to Citroën, the French driver Sebastien Loeb is the single most successful driver in the entire history of the World Rallying Championship. Nine consecutive driver's titles were won by Loeb in the time between 2004 and 2012, driving cars such as the Xsara, the C4, and the DS3.
  • If you went into a Citroën showroom in the 20s, there's a good chance that you would have been given a letter that was personally handwritten by Andre Citroën himself, proclaiming the benefits of the car models. This one act of marketing genius is credited with being responsible for thousands of closed sales.
  • French president Charles de Gaulle's life was saved by Citroën not once, but twice. In 1961 a Citroën DS managed to stay intact despite there being a bomb made of plastic explosive, dynamite, oil, and nails. It even managed to drive away from the scene. In 1962, de Gaulle was attacked again, this time with machine guns, but the Citroën again managed to get away from the would-be assassins.
  • In 2019, the Citroën DS was voted in the UK as the 'coolest car ever', with writers and marketers calling it the Brigitte Bardot of cars. In second place was the E-Type Jag…
