Daihatsu Move Common Problems and Solutions
AC Malfunction
Problem:
Your AC has stopped working.
Solution:
The AC on the Move will need to be regassed occasionally. You can buy regassing kits, but a garage will tend to charge you around the same price, and they are less likely to make any mistakes that lead to car damage.

Squealing From Front of Car
Problem:
There is a squealing noise coming from the front of the car when you're driving.
Solution:
Check your front wheel bearings as these are very prone to rapid and premature wear. Installation of new bearings is a fiddly job, but the bearings themselves are very inexpensive and available for fast delivery when you order from our online store.

Lower Gear Shift (All Automatics)
Problem:
The car keeps moving into lower gears, even when you're applying the accelerator.
Solution:
Your first step is to change your oil and check your oil filter, unblocking if needed. Then check your spark plugs and order new ones from us if they are blown. The last thing to check is the manifold, which may be clogged. Give it a good clean, and the issue should be resolved.

Loss of Power
Problem:
The car has lost all power, and you can't even drive up a slight incline.
Solution:
It's likely that you have a blocked fuel filter, which will need to be replaced. If your fuel filter looks fine, then it could be either a broken fuel pump or a blocked exhaust. Try cleaning out the exhaust if it's looking blocked. You can order a new fuel filter or fuel pump directly from our parts list.

Leaking brake pipes
Problem:
If you have noticed that there is fluid leaking into the ground underneath the car, it is most likely caused by rusty brake pipes. Look under the car to see if the pipes are rusty/corroded, causing them to leak.
Solution:
Fitting replacement brake pipes will sort the issue. You will also need to top up the brake fluid.

Rusty sills
Problem:
The sills are prone to rusting on the Move. The sills run along the side of the car underneath the side doors. If you have noticed that they are rotten, or are starting to rust, you will need to get this seen to asap.
Solution:
Depending on how bad the rust is, will determine exactly what you need to do to fix the problem. If it is not too bad, you will be able to rub down the affected area, treat it and touch it up with the correct paint. If the rust is really bad, your best bet would be to fit a replacement sill.

Exhaust problems
Problem:
Daihatsu vehicles have known problems with their exhausts being very weak, and the Move is no different. If your exhaust sounds rather loud, then it is likely that you will need to replace it. This can sound like a roaring noise coming from underneath the car.
Solution:
As mentioned above, you will need to replace the exhaust, in order to stop the noise. We want to help you to find your replacement exhaust, at a price that will make you smile.

Engine management warning light
Problem:
Has the engine management warning light appeared on your dashboard? If so, the most likely cause of this is a faulty oxygen sensor. Other symptoms of a failed oxygen sensor can be an increased fuel consumption and a slight lack of power, when accelerating.
Solution:
