About Tailgate

The Fiesta Ford Bootlid Tailgate is the lifting cover for the boot space on a saloon vehicle or the lifting door on a hatchback or estate vehicle. In the latter it will include the rear window, in the former it will be a solid piece of bodywork.

The Bootlid is attached by hinges to the boot space/luggage compartment at the rear of the vehicle. The hinged Fiesta Ford Bootlid Tailgate, with the window, lifts, opening the rear end of the passenger compartment. The Fiesta Ford Bootlid Tailgate will house a heated screen with a wiper/wash system and possibly lighting.

The usual reason for replacement is collision damage.

Ford Fiesta trivia

  • The 1-litre 140PS Fiesta is more powerful per litre than a Bugatti Veyron!
  • Despite its huge popularity and impressive sales figures, not many celebrities have owned up to driving a Fiesta. It seems that the most famous people to own a Fiesta are Nell McAndrew, the official model for 90s Tomb Raider games, and former cricketer/Strictly Come Dancing winner Mark Ramprakash.
  • 1987 is widely considered to be the best year ever for the Ford Fiesta. It sold just over 153,000 units that year alone, making ‘87 the year that grounded the car as a massive best-seller.
  • The beautiful Fiesta XR2 was the first model to be able to hit 100mph! Released in 1981, the XR2 also had auxiliary driving lamps, which was as odd then as it is now.
  • For the last ten years, the Ford Fiesta has outsold every other make and model of car in the UK, making it the best-selling car in the country. It is estimated that for every 20 cars that get sold in the UK, one is a Fiesta.
