About Fog Lamp Blanking Plate
The Focus Ford fog lamp blanking plate is situated on the front of the vehicle and is attached to the chassis under the bumper. The purpose of a Focus Ford fog lamp blanking plate is to neatly cover the empty space on a vehicle where a fog light would have been installed. Focus Ford fog lamp blanking plates are made of a plastic material and come in a variety of colours and finishes to compliment a range of vehicles, though the most commonly used colours are grey or black which are installed by vehicle manufacturers as standard. Some people find that these do not suit the cosmetic appearance of their vehicle and so may install one in a similar colour to their vehicle. Alternatively, it’s also possible to install fog lights in the place of blanking plates, but this is often at large cost to the vehicle owner.
Some Focus Ford fog lamp blanking plates can be latticed, which can cover up an existing fog light rather than removing it. This has the added benefit of being able to use the lamp, whilst also hiding its appearance. However, this grille makes it more difficult to clean the fog light underneath.
Ford Focus trivia
- The first Focus World Rally Car was entered into the 1999 Monte Carlo Rally, with Colin McRae and Simon Jean-Joseph behind the wheel of two specially designed cars. Unfortunately, the Focus was found to have a water pump that was not allowed, and the Focus team was excluded from the event (although they returned for the Safari Rally later that year and won).
- Between its launch in 1998 and now, an estimated 12 million people own a Ford Focus.
- Ford had to fight to use the name Focus, after a publisher in Germany, Herbert Burda Media, sued over the naming. That's because they had a magazine being published called Focus. The court declared in Ford's favour, and the Ford Focus was officially given a name.
- Ken Block, an impressive five-time medal winner at the X-Games, as well as being a rally racer, helped Ford to develop the 2016 Ford Focus RS.
- Famed for its rally performance, the Ford Focus has also won the SCCA Speed World Challenge Touring Car Series. The Focus TC 2000 won in 2003, 2005, 2010, and 2012.
