About ABS Pump

An integral part of the ABS system, the i30 Hyundai ABS pump is part of the hydraulic unit and works with the ABS Control Unit ECU and ABS modulator to regulate your car's braking system.

Fundamentally, the i30 Hyundai ABS pump is part of a vital process which ensures you are able to maintain control of steering, enabling you to brake safely and smoothly by regulating the air pressure in the wheel brakes. The i30 Hyundai pump plays its part in this process by pumping the pressure released from the brakes back up. When a wheel is likely to lock and skid, air pressure is adjusted in the brake chamber to stop this from happening and the i30 Hyundai ABS pump ensures this pressure is pumped back up again.

As with all parts over time, your i30 Hyundai ABS pump will end up wearing out. It is common for the pump motor to burn out with continued use and you will need to fit a new pump. If your i30 Hyundai ABS pump isn't working, the ABS warning light will show on the dashboard. The ABS system will automatically stop working if there is a fault with your i30 Hyundai ABS pump. Though you will be able to continue to use your brakes, you will not be assisted by ABS.

Hyundai trivia

  • The Matt Damon film, The Bourne Supremacy, has the action hero not just driving a Hyundai EF Sonata, but also pointing out another. This is despite the fact that Hyundai hadn’t entered into any product placement deals with the filmmakers. The EF Sonata can also be seen in 2005’s War of the Worlds, 2008’s The Hurt Locker, and the 2010 thriller Inception.
  • The Korean car company gets its name from the Korean translation of the word ‘modernity’.
  • It wasn’t until 1996 that Hyundai unveiled their first sports car, the Hyundai Coupe (called the Tiburon in the US and Australia). It gained a huge burst of popularity after being featured in the video game Need for Speed.
  • An estimated 90% of Hyundai sales come from their European market. That might be partly due to their sponsorship of events like FIFA.
  • Hyundai has a major advantage over other car manufacturers who have to import the steel that they use. Instead, Hyundai can cut production costs because they roll their own steel in South Korea.
