About Power Steering Boxs

Power steering, also known as power assisted steering, makes steering a motor vehicle easier for the driver by reducing the amount of force that is required to be applied to the steering wheel when trying to manoeuvre the car and almost every vehicle that is built nowadays has some form of power steering system.

Although electric power assisted steering is rising in popularity, by far the most prevalent system at present is hydraulic power.

Hydraulic steering employs a pump, which is normally driven by a belt.  The pump generates pressure and the driver’s control is provided by either a rack and pinion or a Hyundaipower steering box. Whichever of the two systems is used, the basic operation is the same. The fluid pressure generated by the pump is used to push against a piston.  When the steering wheel is turned, pressure flows to one side, causing the piston, which is attached to the steering gears, to move.  The driver is thereby able to allow hydraulic pressure to do most of the work involved in turning the steering wheel.

Although the rack and pinion system is felt to provide lighter weight and greater control precision, the Hyundai power steering box is considered to be harder wearing and possess greater durability.

Hyundai trivia

  • All car manufacturers need a big manufacturing plant. The Ulsan plant used by Hyundai is the biggest in the world and covers an astonishing 1,225 acres. It has five completely independent plants and needs around 35,000 workers to function at optimal capacity.
  • It wasn’t until 1996 that Hyundai unveiled their first sports car, the Hyundai Coupe (called the Tiburon in the US and Australia). It gained a huge burst of popularity after being featured in the video game Need for Speed.
  • When Hyundai entered a deal with Marvel, it meant that three different Hyundai cars were used in Ant-Man and the Wasp. As part of the promotion, Hyundai also designed and built the Kona Iron Man Edition SUV, which is pretty cool!
  • Every time that a new Hyundai is sold, the company donates a portion of the profit to charities fighting pediatric cancer. The Hope on Wheels campaign has also been used to help disaster zone recovery, and since its launch in 1998 has raised over £160million.
  • Hyundai were the first car manufacturer to offer a ten-year warranty on their vehicle. They did this in the early 1990s!
