About Air Intake Pipes

The Jaguar intake pipe is a simple yet crucial part of the car's air intake system. It allows air to enter the car's air intake system into the Jaguar air filter box which then filters the air before it reaches the engine.

The Jaguar air intake pipe is usually found in the plastic housing between the engine and the air filter. It is attached to the Jaguar air flow sensor which is attached to the Jaguar air filter box.

It is vital that the engine is supplied with the correct amount of clean, filtered air. Air needs to be as clean as possible before it mixes with the fuel and burns in the cylinders of the engine. The Jaguar air intake pipe plays a part in this process by allowing the air to enter the air intake system, enabling it to be filtered, which improves the overall performance of the engine, enabling it to function at its best.

The Jaguar air intake pipe is made of plastic and can wear down over time and can also crack and split, which enables dirt and other unwanted debris to enter the engine and potentially cause damage. It is common for an old air intake pipe to distort, crack and leak and if you notice your car is lacking in performance and using more fuel, it could be a sign that the Jaguar air intake pipe is broken. You may be able to repair the Jaguar air intake pipe if there is a slight crack but if it is a big crack or the pipe is really warped due to old age you will need to replace this part with a new Jaguar air intake pipe.

Jaguar trivia

  • PM Margaret Thatcher was determined to keep Jaguar as a British company, and in 1984 she announced that the brand was protected from foreign purchasing. The government retained a 50% share of the company until it became clear that foreign investment was essential as 1990 rolled around.
  • The 2014 Superbowl advert for Jaguar featured Brit actors Ben Kingsley and Mark Strong, with a terrified Tom Hiddlestone hanging out of a helicopter as it flew across London. Not many people know that the driver used for this advert was The Stig (Ben Collins).
  • To show off just how light the F-Pace SUV was, Jaguar built a loop and the SUV not only tackled it but completed the loop on its first go. The feat earned Jaguar a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
  • Before a Jaguar is painted, they are brushed with an ionized emu feather. That's because these feathers are very good at holding an electrostatic charge, and that means they are great at getting rid of any dust that might ruin the finished Jaguar look.
  • The iconic Jaguar ornament on the bonnet isn't included as standard anymore. Lots of people seem to think it's illegal, but they're not, as long as the ornament is spring-loaded. The jaguar ornament is known in-house as The Leaper, and you can still buy the Leaper as an after-purchase accessory.
