Peugeot 307 Common Problems and Solutions
'Unblock diesel filter' message
On the diesel engined versions it is common for the 'unblock diesel filter' message to pop up on your screen. This problem is caused by a buildup of unwanted particles on the diesel particulate filter, which occurs due to the vehicle not being driven at consistent speeds in order to burn off these particles. If you mostly use your car in town, then this could be a common problem for you. Have a look at the short video below about the Peugeot particle filter:
You will need to take the car onto an open road and drive it at consistent speeds, at about 2500 rpm, for at least 15 minutes in order to allow the filter to get hot enough to burn off these unwanted particles. This should solve the problem.
Knocking noise from suspension
If when you are driving over rough surfaces or speed bumps you notice a knocking noise coming from the suspension then it is likely to be a problem with either the suspension bushes or the anti-roll bar link.
Once you have identified whether it is the anti-roll bar link or the suspension bushes at fault, then you will need to replace the faulty part in order to resolve the issue.
Steering column stalk problem
It is particularly common on earlier versions of the 307 to notice troubles with the steering column stalk. If one of the stalks is not working, or if you are hearing a clicking noise when you are turning a corner, then this should be taken as an indication that it could be about to fail.
You will need to fit a replacement steering column stalk in order to fix this problem.
Carpets coming away
You may have noticed that the carpets are coming away from the sills, which is unfortunately a common issue on the 307. This problem is caused by a lack of clips.
To fix this issue you have to fit a few more clips in order to hold the carpet in place securely. Fitting these clips should resolve the issue.
