History of Renault Kangoo

The Renault Kangoo is a light commercial vehicle that has been in production since 1997. So far there have been two generations of the Kangoo, both of which have been well received in areas across the globe. It''s one of Europe''s top sellers in its class. The Kangoo is produced at the MCA plant in Maubeuge, France, as well as in Argentina and Morocco. The Kangoo is known for its low fuel consumption and reliable driving performance. It''s popular across the globe, winning numerous awards like Best Small Trades Van of the Year in 2014. It''s packed with features, including a number of impressive safety components. Euro NCAP gave the Kangoo four out of five stars for adult occupant safety at its crash tests in 2008. It also gave it a four out of five star child occupant safety score.

First Generation Renault Kangoo I (1997 To 2007)

The Mk1 Kangoo was in production for ten years, during which it received one facelift in 2003. Also available in four-wheel drive and lengthened versions, the Kangoo offered excellent loadspace. Rear windows and seats of the Kangoo I could be removed, giving it increased cargo space. A badge engineered version of the Kangoo was sold as the Nissan Kubistar.

A four wheel drive version was introduced in 2002, marketed under the name "Trekka". The suspension was similar to the standard Kangoo, only strengthened and raised to provide more ground clearance and wheel travel. Buyers had the choice of two engines: the 1.6 litre 16 valve petrol engine and 1.9 litre dCi turbodiesel.

Second Generation Renault Kangoo II (2008 To Present)

Manufactured in Maubeuge, the second generation Renault Kangoo II is based on the Renault Scenic. It''s available in three wheelbase configurations: Compact, Express and Express Maxi. All are produced in passenger versions as well as panel vans. A facelifted version of both the van and passenger versions were made available from the beginning of 2013.
