About Window Motor Cables
There are different types of electric window mechanisms. Most commonly the use of a motor and a mechanism with a worm gear and a curved cogged arm are employed to create the up and down movement of the window glass. Another type uses a motor and a mechanism that has cables that are wound and unwound on spools to create the lift and drop of the window glass.
Problems with the cable type can be through lack of lubrication between the inner cable and the outer sleeve. This results in resistance and slowing of the mechanism and the speed of the movement in the window, or can be a complete seizure of the cable and a resulting snapping of the cable.
Replacement of the cable requires removal of the electric motor with its attached mechanism.
The motor and mechanism is located behind the the door card trim in the door cavity. Access to the motor and mechanism with the cables, requires the removal of the door card trim and the disconnection of the electrical connections.

- After the death of James Bond creator and writer Ian Fleming, the writer James Gardner took over writing duties for the super spy. He immediately had Bond driving a Saab 900 Turbo, and Saab even built a replica of the 'Silver Beast' which can still be seen in the Saab Car Museum.
- What does the word 'Saab' even mean? It's actually an acronym for Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget, Swedish Aircraft Company Limited. Saab is much easier to say.
- The Saab car badge is a very stylized version of the wing from an aeroplane.
- The Saab 900 was built between 1978 and 1993 and is the best selling Saab ever. In that time, it sold a total of 980,817 cars, around half of which were the convertible model. They can still be seen on UK roads very regularly.
- There's a very persistent myth that none of the 16 members of the Saab team had a driving license when they built the very first Saab. It's not quite true, because at least two of the team (including the test driver) are confirmed to have had one.
