About Wiring Looms

The Skoda Wiring Loom is a set of wires strapped together designed to begin and terminate at specific points in the vehicle. The loom is rather like the London Underground Map with different coloured wires running from one point in the vehicle to another. During manufacture these looms are premade with the wires strapped together and shaped to run a certain route through the car's structure. The looms can be separate pieces that connect at junction points.

These looms run through channeling in the car body, under carpets behind roof lining and behind the car dashboard. These connect the electrical power required for the functioning of the engine, and all equipment requiring electrical power.

Faults can occur in the Skoda Wiring Loom due to short circuiting, over heating, fire damage or crash damage.

Skoda trivia

  • The Skoda Kodiaq has some surprising features, many of which have been seen on later Skoda models. Some of the more 'out there' accessories include the ice scraper that is stored in the fuel cap and the umbrella that has its own dedicated space in the driver's door.
  • The 2018 Skoda Kodiaq RS is a seven-seater that set a new speed record in the car that has yet to be beaten (the car was driven by Top Gear presenter Sabine Schmitz).
  • The Skoda Octavia set a new World record for the farthest arrow fired and caught from a moving vehicle. The record stands at 188ft and 7.775 inches.
  • The most expensive Skoda ever built was meant to be eaten, not driven! The £500,000 cake was a promotion for the Skoda Fabia, and the resulting advert was Skoda's most popular ever, winning several advertising awards. The cake weighed a tonne and a half and even had a replica engine that was 'oiled' with golden syrup.
  • Skoda beat some big brands to be named the most dependable car brand in the UK in 2016. Suzuki came second, with Kia coming in third.
