The Talbot Express van was a vehicle produced by the British automobile marque Talbot from 1982 to 1994, which was only available in the United Kingdom. The Express was a badge-engineered version of the Peugeot J5, and was the last vehicle to be produced using the Talbot badge - almost eight years after the final Talbot passenger car was discontinued in 1986. The Talbot Express became popular for use as a motorhome, with many still seen on the roads to this day.

Talbot Express (1982 - 1994)

The Talbot Express was a rebadged version of the Peugeot J5 van, which went into production in 1982 for the UK market only. PSA Peugeot Citroen bought what was then called Chrysler Europe and returned it to its original Talbot marque, rebadging various models. It was during this PSA Peugeot Citroen ownership that the Express van was produced.

The French ownership is evident through the range of Citroen/Peugeot petrol and diesel engines that power the Express, all of which are transversely mounted. A 4x4 option was also available during its lifespan, although these models are now incredibly hard to come by. 1991 saw the launch of the second generation Express, known as the series 2, which had some exterior changes including an enlarged grille. Production of the Express vans ended in 1994 when Peugeot finally stopped manufacturing under the Talbot name.

The Talbot van was very popular for conversions to campervans or motorhomes, and well-maintained versions are still popular to this day - holding their value far better than the commercial van variants.
