About Aircon Relays

The car's air conditioning system basically conditions the air, which means whilst cooling the air in the car down, it also helps to ensure there isn't too much moisture in the car, so it stops the air getting too humid.  The car's air conditioning unit also cleans the air in the car by filtering the dust and other particles from the air inside the car.

The Toyota aircon relay carries electric current between the car's battery and various components that make up the car's air conditioning system and it essentially acts as an ON/OFF voltage control switch. The Toyota aircon relay is efficient and clever in that it works on very little power but produces a great many times more power than it uses.

The Toyota aircon relay will be housed in the relay box, usually found underneath the dashboard. The Toyota aircon relay connects to the car's battery, as well as connecting to the specific part that the relay is functioning, for example, the compressor clutch relay will connect to the compressor clutch.

If the car's air conditioning system has stopped working it is advisable to seek professional advice. Get the relays connected to the ac system checked, such as the aircon compressor clutch relay, to establish if it is merely a Toyota aircon relay that is broken and needs replacing or a larger problem with the whole air conditioning system.

Toyota trivia

  • Toyota has thousands and thousands of patents, and in 2019 it gave away an incredible 23,740 patents that had been awarded over more than 20 years. Those patents were all focused on electric vehicle technology.
  • The company is proud of the fact (and very vocal about it, rightly) that it spends $1million EVERY HOUR on research and development.
  • The founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda, did a trip around the US to get inspiration for car designs. That's why those early Toyota cars look more than a little bit like Chevrolets and Dodge Power Wagons.
  • Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
  • That founder's name was Toyoda, but the name of the company was changed to Toyota because it took one less stroke to write in Japanese. Eight is a lucky number in Japan, and Toyota takes eight strokes to write, and so Toyota it is!
