About CV Gaiter Inners
A Toyota inner CV gaiter is a strong rubber protective cover which fits snugly over the CV joint in order to protect it from debris and damage when the vehicle is in motion. It contains a lubricant which enables the parts of the CV joint to move smoothly without wear.
Failure in a Toyota inner CV gaiter will most likely be caused by damage to the rubber material which can mean that the essential lubricant is lost and contaminants can enter the confines of the gaiter which causes risk of damage to the inner CV joint. The CV joint is essential in driving the vehicle forward as it transfers torque from the transmission to the wheels at a constant speed, and if damaged can cause the vehicle to cease operation.
The most common way to diagnose a damaged Toyota inner CV gaiter is by inspection by a mechanic who will be able to see any signs of cracking, wear or lubricant leaking from the gaiter. However, in the event of a damaged Toyota inner CV gaiter causing damage to the CV joint you may experience a shuddering or shaking from side-to-side of the vehicle on acceleration.
Toyota trivia
- They might be one of the biggest and well-known brand names in the world, but Toyota is still very much a family business. Every CEO so far has been a descendant of the original founder.
- Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
- That founder's name was Toyoda, but the name of the company was changed to Toyota because it took one less stroke to write in Japanese. Eight is a lucky number in Japan, and Toyota takes eight strokes to write, and so Toyota it is!
- The company is proud of the fact (and very vocal about it, rightly) that it spends $1million EVERY HOUR on research and development.
- As well as their other records, Toyota is known to consistently break sales records as well. It's not just the Corolla either. They have been so successful some years that they outsold Honda and Nissan combined!
