About Handbrake Covers

The Toyota handbrake cover is a leather or fabric gaiter of a complimentary colour to match the vehicles’ interior. This gaiter covers the base of the handbrake in the vehicle. Its job is partly aesthetic, and gives the handbrake a finished look. It’s also used to protect the inner workings of the handbrake and ensure that they are not exposed. Because this cover is made from fabric it is prone to damage and dirt. If this occurs, it is possible to replace the cover with a suitable alternative.

Some vehicle owners prefer to change the Toyota handbrake cover for cosmetic reasons. There’s a great deal of interest in modifying a vehicle’s interior to give it a new, personalised touch and if a change of colour in the vehicle’s upholstery and interior is completed, many will want to also compliment this with similar or contrasting fittings.

Some Toyota handbrake covers are completed with a metal, rubberised or leather grip to cover the handbrake itself. These come in a variety of styles and patterns and also play an important role in ensuring that the driver can grab the handbrake in an emergency. Damaged grips should be replaced as soon as possible.

Toyota trivia

  • The company is proud of the fact (and very vocal about it, rightly) that it spends $1million EVERY HOUR on research and development.
  • As well as the best selling car of all time, Toyota is also responsible for the longest-running production on a car model ever. The Toyota model Land Cruiser started production in 1951, and as of 2019 has sold over 10 million units!
  • As well as their other records, Toyota is known to consistently break sales records as well. It's not just the Corolla either. They have been so successful some years that they outsold Honda and Nissan combined!
  • World-famous magazine the MIT Technology Review repeatedly includes Toyota in its list of the world's 50 smartest companies.
  • The Toyota company got its start making automated looms in 1033. Founder Sakichi Toyoda even invented the automated loom and then sold them off to try and get into the car industry. There is still an arm of Toyota that is still in the textile industry!
