About Hydragas Suspension Pumps

The Toyota Hydragas suspension pump is an invaluable tool for anyone who uses a Hydragas suspension system in their vehicle. The Hydragas suspension system is used in classic cars and vintage vehicles and works by having a Hydragas unit at each wheel which are joined front and rear with piping. The Hydragas unit consists of a sphere which contains Hydrolastic fluid in the bottom section and nitrogen gas in the upper section of the sphere and the two are separated by a damper valve to keep them apart. This nitrogen gas creates pressure on the Hydrolastic fluid and is compressed during the movement of the vehicle, much like a spring on a conventional suspension.

The portable Toyota Hydragas suspension pump can be used for roadside repairs of Hydragas and Hydrolastic suspensions in the event that your vehicle loses suspension height by pumping in the relevant amount of Hydrolastic fluid.

The robust Toyota Hydragas suspension pump can also be used to remove air in the suspension system to ensure the correct trim height for the vehicle. The trim height of a vehicle should be checked every six months or 6000 miles to ensure it’s at the right height.

Toyota trivia

  • That founder's name was Toyoda, but the name of the company was changed to Toyota because it took one less stroke to write in Japanese. Eight is a lucky number in Japan, and Toyota takes eight strokes to write, and so Toyota it is!
  • Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
  • They might be one of the biggest and well-known brand names in the world, but Toyota is still very much a family business. Every CEO so far has been a descendant of the original founder.
  • The founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda, did a trip around the US to get inspiration for car designs. That's why those early Toyota cars look more than a little bit like Chevrolets and Dodge Power Wagons.
  • The Toyota Prius is just the latest example of why Toyota is widely considered the greenest company in the car industry. Consistent efforts at improving sustainability and eco-awareness led to them getting voted the number one Global Green Brand back in 2015.
