About Power Steering Boxs

Power steering, also known as power assisted steering, makes steering a motor vehicle easier for the driver by reducing the amount of force that is required to be applied to the steering wheel when trying to manoeuvre the car and almost every vehicle that is built nowadays has some form of power steering system.

Although electric power assisted steering is rising in popularity, by far the most prevalent system at present is hydraulic power.

Hydraulic steering employs a pump, which is normally driven by a belt.  The pump generates pressure and the driver’s control is provided by either a rack and pinion or a Toyotapower steering box. Whichever of the two systems is used, the basic operation is the same. The fluid pressure generated by the pump is used to push against a piston.  When the steering wheel is turned, pressure flows to one side, causing the piston, which is attached to the steering gears, to move.  The driver is thereby able to allow hydraulic pressure to do most of the work involved in turning the steering wheel.

Although the rack and pinion system is felt to provide lighter weight and greater control precision, the Toyota power steering box is considered to be harder wearing and possess greater durability.

Toyota trivia

  • They might be one of the biggest and well-known brand names in the world, but Toyota is still very much a family business. Every CEO so far has been a descendant of the original founder.
  • Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
  • Without the US, Toyota very likely wouldn't exist today as we know it. In 1950, the car company was struggling to fight off bankruptcy and only managed to make 300 trucks until the Korean War kicked off. The US then put in an order for 5,000 vehicles, transforming the company and its future.
  • As well as their other records, Toyota is known to consistently break sales records as well. It's not just the Corolla either. They have been so successful some years that they outsold Honda and Nissan combined!
  • The Toyota Prius is just the latest example of why Toyota is widely considered the greenest company in the car industry. Consistent efforts at improving sustainability and eco-awareness led to them getting voted the number one Global Green Brand back in 2015.
