About Steering Pulleys
In order to reduce the effort required to steer a vehicle, most modern cars are fitted with a power assisted steering system. The system involves a variety of parts that work in conjunction to provide sufficient assistance to reduce the load on the driver when steering the car. This is especially useful when the vehicle is large and heavy and/or has oversized tyres.
One of the components that plays a part in the power steering system is the Toyotasteering pulley. The Toyotasteering pulley is normally made from solid steel and is round in shape. The essential part that it plays in the power steering system is to drive the power steering pump via a belt. There are two types of belt that a Toyotasteering pulley is employed to drive. The first of these is a single V-type belt whilst the other is the serpentine belt, which is used to drive a range of different peripheral devices in a motor vehicle, including the power steering pump.
A Toyotasteering pulley is usually sized to enable the power steering pump to operate at a speed faster than the engine.
The Toyotasteering pulley will only need to be removed to replace it if it is damaged or to replace the power steering pump or a leaking pump seal.
Toyota trivia
- The founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda, did a trip around the US to get inspiration for car designs. That's why those early Toyota cars look more than a little bit like Chevrolets and Dodge Power Wagons.
- Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
- As well as their other records, Toyota is known to consistently break sales records as well. It's not just the Corolla either. They have been so successful some years that they outsold Honda and Nissan combined!
- The first car company to produce over 10 million cars in a single year (which they did in 2013), Toyota also boasts the record-breaking sales of one Corolla sold every 37 seconds (every 27 seconds in 2013). That made the Corolla the best selling car of all time!
- The Toyota Prius is just the latest example of why Toyota is widely considered the greenest company in the car industry. Consistent efforts at improving sustainability and eco-awareness led to them getting voted the number one Global Green Brand back in 2015.
