About Suspension Coil Springs

A Toyota suspension coil spring is a strong metal spring which is located in the front of the vehicle. Its primary function is to absorb the shock transferred to the vehicle when it drives over bumps in the road. The Toyota suspension coil spring works by compressing when the vehicle drives over the bump. It’s this compression that diffuses the amount of pressure that is experienced by the vehicle and smooths the ride.

Toyota suspension coil springs each have a rating, and it is important that if you replace a Toyota suspension coil spring you replace it with one of the same rating. If one Toyota suspension coil spring is damaged, both the coil springs in the vehicle should be replaced to ensure that the vehicle is driving with two matching rate springs. It is also likely that if one Toyota suspension coil spring is damaged, the other is also damaged.

If a Toyota suspension coil spring breaks, you are likely to hear it snap. This can be confirmed by examining the spring. Tyres can jump or wear unevenly if your vehicle has a broken spring.

Toyota trivia

  • Without the US, Toyota very likely wouldn't exist today as we know it. In 1950, the car company was struggling to fight off bankruptcy and only managed to make 300 trucks until the Korean War kicked off. The US then put in an order for 5,000 vehicles, transforming the company and its future.
  • That founder's name was Toyoda, but the name of the company was changed to Toyota because it took one less stroke to write in Japanese. Eight is a lucky number in Japan, and Toyota takes eight strokes to write, and so Toyota it is!
  • Incredibly, there are more Toyota made cars on the world's roads than any other vehicle. It's not just high sales figures that make that viable either. Their durability means that even Toyotas that were sold 20 years ago are still on the road!
  • The first car company to produce over 10 million cars in a single year (which they did in 2013), Toyota also boasts the record-breaking sales of one Corolla sold every 37 seconds (every 27 seconds in 2013). That made the Corolla the best selling car of all time!
  • World-famous magazine the MIT Technology Review repeatedly includes Toyota in its list of the world's 50 smartest companies.
