About Aircon Condensors
The car's air conditioning system basically conditions the air, which means whilst cooling the air in the car down, it also helps to ensure there isn't too much moisture in the car, so it stops the air getting too humid. The car's air conditioning unit also cleans the air in the car by filtering the dust and other particles from the air inside the car.
The Vauxhall aircon condenser, usually made out of aluminum, is situated in front of the engine's radiator. It looks a lot like a radiator, is usually about the same size or a bit smaller than a radiator and a bit thinner, and is sometimes referred to as the aircon radiator.
Hot gas or vapour is pumped from the Vauxhall aircon compressor into the Vauxhall aircon condenser where it is cooled and turned back into a really cold liquid which is pumped into the Vauxhall aircon evaporator and flows into the car as cold air. This whole process is then repeated over and again.
If the air conditioning system is losing refrigerant vapour, it could be a sign that the aircon condenser has a leak. If there is insufficient cold air it could be a clogged aircon condenser. Situated in front of your car's water radiator, the Vauxhall aircon condenser is an easy target for corrosion and dirt which can cause problems with this part. Have a chat with your mechanic, and once you have established this part needs replacing, buying a new Vauxhall aircon condenser will ensure you get the perfect for the make and model of your vehicle.
Vauxhall trivia
- The Vauxhall Vectra was the last car they ever produced in Luton, and it went on to become one of their most poorly reviewed vehicles. Top Gear even put the '95 Vectra on their list of the worst cars of the last 20 years (Clarkson wouldn't even drive it!).
- The colour yellow that Vauxhall uses on its cars is named 'Maddox Yellow,' after pensioner Richard Maddox had his Corsa vandalised. Residents of the small village of Arlington where Maddox lived thought the car and the colour were ugly!
- They might be famous for their cars, but Vauxhall also has the claim to fame of being in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest GPS drawing! The 6080-mile Halloween art made national news!
- If you thought you were seeing mostly grey Vauxhalls on the road, your eyes aren't going funny. It's the most popular colour for Vauxhall cars.
- The Lotus Elise might seem like a far way away from the average Vauxhall, but they do have some matching parts. Alright, so it's nothing engine wise, but the Corsa does have the same indicator and wiper stalks that can be found on the Series 2 Lotus Elise.
