About Alternative ECU Fuels

There are over 1 billion vehicles in the world that use an alternative fuel. These fuels are defined as any fuel that you can use in place of petrol, oil or diesel, for example electricity. The Vauxhall alternative ECU fuel is a computerised control unit. It’s the job of the Vauxhall alternative ECU fuel to ensure that the alternative fuel engine is operating correctly. It does this by monitoring the functions of the engine and other vehicle components to make sure that the correct amount of fuel is distributed to perform their tasks.

The control unit also performs various tests on the vehicles sensors to make sure that they are operating correctly. If the Vauxhall alternative ECU fuel finds an error, it will store the data so that it can be referred back to and rectified by the vehicle owner or a reputable mechanic.

A failing ECU can manifest with various symptoms, the most serious of which would be the vehicle failing to start. Drops in fuel efficiency, vehicle jerking, transmission problems or issues in changing gears can also be put down to a faulty ECU as it controls a large amount of processes in the vehicle.

Vauxhall trivia

  • Vauxhall's first-ever car had a whopping five-horsepower and didn't have a steering wheel! Instead, it used a tiller for guiding direction, along with two forward gears. Who even needs a reverse gear?
  • Alexander Wilson founded Vauxhall back in 1857 as a pump and marine engine manufacturer. It then moved onto building cranes before starting to finally make cars in 1903.
  • The Vauxhall Vectra was the last car they ever produced in Luton, and it went on to become one of their most poorly reviewed vehicles. Top Gear even put the '95 Vectra on their list of the worst cars of the last 20 years (Clarkson wouldn't even drive it!).
  • Vauxhall has been manufacturing cars continuously in Britain since 1903, making it the oldest car brand to survive in the UK.
  • It's the Corsa that is, by far, the most popular make produced by Vauxhall. Even as late as 2019, there were twice as many Corsa sales as there were of any other type of car.
