Vauxhall Velox Overview
The Vauxhall Velox is classed as a mid-sized executive car which was produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Vauxhall Motors. This vehicle was in production from 1948 to 1965 and is considered a classic car. This vehicle had a 6-cylinder engine which shared the body of the Vauxhall Wyvern in its earlier years and the Vauxhall Cresta in its later years. The later version had a real American styling influence, and the Velox competed with the likes of the Ford Zephyr. These cars were considered very classy and had a real luxurious feel to both the interior and exterior. They were pretty comfortable, spacious and were a popular car of the era. Vauxhall Velox History
The first generation LIP (1948-51) was available with a 2.3L engine which had 6-cylinders and overhead valves. This car had some mod cons for its time, including heating and a radio. This version shared the body with the less luxurious Vauxhall Wyvern.
The second generation EIP (1951-57) version was slightly larger and also shared its body with the Wyvern. The EIP was replaced with the EIPV in 1952 and had a facelift in 1955.
The third generation PA (1957-60) gives the Velox a new look, and had a real American styling influence which was uncommon on the European market. It had a facelift in 1959. It had another facelift in 1961, calling it the PA SX.
The fourth generation (1962-65) made the car much longer than previous versions. The two larger engines were introduced on this version. Production ceased in 1965 and meant the end of the Velox.
