Rear brake problem

Problem:

On the 1991-94 Explorer there were known issues with regards to the rear brakes locking when the vehicle first began to pull away. This is most likely due to the brake lining absorbing too much moisture.

This can be fixed by installing the revised brake linings to the rear brakes as the moisture issue has been resolved with the revised part.

'Check Engine' warning light problem

Problem:

If you have noticed the 'check engine' warning light coming on you will have to run a diagnostic check on the engine. This is most likely going to be one of the two faults. It will either be the incorrect fuel/air mixture which can be rectified by installing a revised exhaust manifold gasket. The other thing could be a faulty oxygen sensor which can be fixed by installing a new sensor.

Models affected:

Solution:

Depending on the exact nature of the problem, you will either need to fit the revised exhaust manifold gasket, or the new oxygen sensor.

Oil leak

Problem:

Again, this problem is mainly on the 2001 Ford Explorer. The leak comes from the front differential vent hose and is caused by an oil overflow from the vent hole.

Models affected:

In order to resolve this issue, you must fit a new front differential housing cover which will help the revised vent hose routing.

Front axle problems

Problem:

This problem occurs on the 2001 Explorer when you hear a squeaky little noise coming from the front. The noise is more obvious in cold weather. This is due to the inner dust ring and the spindle carriers rubbing against each other.

Models affected:

Solution:

Clean the area and then apply high temperature grease before fitting the new dust rings. This should solve your problem.
