The new Honda Civic Type-R Concept car was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and what a car it is!
This car is expected to be released for production in 2015 and after seeing it at the Geneva Motor Show on Monday, we are well looking forward to this happening, in fact we cannot wait.
It has so much going for it; with great looks, a 276bhp 2.0L engine which is expected to be above 300bhp by the time the production version is released and this will be one of the most eagerly anticipated cars to be released in 2015.
Honda have said that this will be the first front wheel drive hatchback to break the 8 minute barrier at the Nurburgring, and this goes to show the expected performance of the car.
The new exterior design gives the Type-R a double rear spoiler and along with the front end design, this gives this car some real down force. It has an enlarged front grille design for better cooling and its many curves and vented front bumper help reduce drag.
This will be the first European production Honda car to use the brand new Honda VTEC turbo petrol engine and will comply with the Euro 6 standards. The Civic Type-R is expected to compete with the likes of the VW Golf R and the Ford Focus RS.
2014 is not a great year for Honda in terms of cars being released but we are expecting great things from Honda in 2015. They are set to release the production version of the Civic Type-R, the new NSX and 2015 will also see the return of Honda to Formula 1 as they produce the engine for the McLaren F1 car.
