The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is a funny looking little vehicle which you will either find really cute looking or you will take an instant disliking to it. It's that sort of vehicle.

The i-MiEV was first released in 2009 and MiEV stands for Mitsubishi intelligent Electric Vehicle. This all electric vehicle is based on the small petrol 4 seater Mitsubishi i, but with the engine and fuel tank replaced by a 63bhp electric motor and a battery pack.

The i-MiEV design philosophy is based on three factors: economy, comfort and ecology. This vehicle is ideal for use around town and Mitsubishi claim that it can do around 80-100 miles on a full battery charge. This distance however is fully dependant on how, where and when it is driven.

To fully charge the car on the mains power of your home will take around 7 hours, which would usually be done during the night. If you have access to a 50kw 3 phase charging point this time is dropped dramatically to 30 minutes.

The motor is located at the rear and it is a rear wheel drive vehicle which has excellent steering and is a really good ride. For such a small vehicle it is very spacious inside and offers reasonably good comfort.

Due to the fact that the i-MiEV produced zero CO2 emissions, this means that you get free road tax in the UK. Prices for this vehicle begin at £28,499 in the UK.
