Vehicle makers around the world are looking for ways to make their cars less damaging to the environment, and it seems BMW is a step ahead of many of them.
The company has just been named Greenest Manufacturer of the Year 2012 by the Green-Car-Guide.com thanks to the "class-leading" fuel economy and emissions ratings of its models.
And it's not the first time that BMW has achieved this title. It has actually won the award in three out of the last five years, suggesting that many of the BMW car parts coming onto the market now are more environmentally-friendly than those from many other manufacturers.
Paul Clarke, editor of Green-Car-Guide.com, said the group's cars are genuinely efficient, yet they also offer a fantastic driving experience, and all under an "aspirational" brand.
He praised the current petrol and diesel models which feature BMW's "pioneering" EfficientDynamics technology, and noted that the manufacturer is also close to rolling hybrid and electronic cars off the production line.
