Rover 214 Overview

The Rover 214 is classed as a small family car and was produced by the British car manufacturing company The Rover Group. This car was part of the Rover 200 Series and the 214 was available as a three or five door hatchback. The Rover 200 series was replaced with the Rover 25 in 2000 when Rover was sold. These cars are cheap to buy and efficient to run. The later hatchback versions look really good but as most Rover cars have this stigma attached to them, with people viewing them as unreliable. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Rover 214?

Rover 214 History

The Rover 214 was introduced for the Mk II Rover 200 series (1989-95). It was available as a hatchback, coupe or convertible. This car was designed in collaboration with Honda and was produced on the same production line as the Honda Concerto. Both these cars were based on the 4th generation Honda Civic. The 214 was one of the first of Rovers new K-series engines. In 1992 this car had a slight facelift which meant new lights and in 93 new grille and bumpers.

The new R3 (1995-1999) was a new design and was aimed mainly at replacing the aging Metro. This new design was no longer designed in conjunction with Honda as they split the previous year when BMW took over Rover. This version was only available in hatchback form. This car became pretty popular, but was replaced by the rover 25 when Rover was again sold in 2000.
