Citroen Saxo Overview

The Citroen Saxo is a supermini car produced by the French car manufacturing company Citroen, which is part of the PSA Peugeot Citroen Company. This vehicle was first produced as a replacement for the Citroen AX and was itself replaced by the Citroen C2. This car shared many parts with the Peugeot 106, and is a really good drive, that is economical and very spacious inside for a car this size. It lacks in safety features and is pretty basic in standard version.

Citroen Saxo History

The Mark 1 Citroen Saxo (1996-99) had pretty basic equipment in the lower models, but as you went up towards the VTR version there were some really good features available. The 1.1L engine was very popular, as the 1.0 seemed to lack power, with the sportier versions coming in 16 valve and smart looking body kit. There were two limited edition versions built in the UK under the Mark 1: Tour de Corse and the San Remo. The Mark 2 Saxo (2000-03) gave the vehicle a new look which mainly Affected the exterior of the car, with the interior staying much the same. The main exterior parts that were affected were the grille, headlights and bonnet. This car ceased production in 2003 and was known for its performance problems. The Peugeot 106 sister car, also ceased production the same year and the Saxo was replaced with the C2.
