Overview Of Hyundai Coupe

The Hyundai Coupe is a sports compact car and was produced by the South Korean Hyundai Motor Company from 1996 – 2008. In the European and Indonesian markets it is known as the Hyundai Coupe but elsewhere it’s called the Hyundai Tiburon. In its home market of South Korea, it was marketed as the Tuscani and then the Turbulence. This car comes with a great 5 year warranty, looks really stylish and is well equipped, making it a good option for a car of this class. This car doesn’t drive that great and the engine range could be better.

Hyundai Coupe History

The first generation RD model (1996-99) was introduced in 1996 as Hyundai’s sports coupe and was understood to have one of the best grips, due to its wide tyres and great suspension, which was partly designed by Porsche. This led to some saying it was the best in this class in these areas. The RD2 (1999-2001) was the makeover version of the RD, with the main changes happening on the bumpers, headlights and the interior dashboard.

The second generation GK model (2003-08) gave the Hyundai Coupe a new style and offered a high powered V6 engine in the range. This vehicle was slightly larger than its predecessor. This car received a makeover in 2005 and made more models available for this generation. Another makeover took place in 2007 and was to be the last version of this car ever produced.

Fuel Economy

The available engines for this car were the 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.7 V6 petrol engines. The most economical of the available engines was the 1.6L version which offered up to 37mpg which is not bad for a car of this type. The larger engines are pretty greedy on the fuel.

Transmission

The available gearboxes for this car were the 5 and 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. If you are needing gearbox parts for your Coupe then have a look at the Hyundai gearbox section of our website today.
