The latest version of the iconic Ford Transit is expected for release in the first quarter of this year. The Transit is the third best selling Ford vehicle in the UK after the Focus and Fiesta. The Transit has been the most popular large panel van in the UK for a long time now and the latest version is no disappointment, but is a very well designed vehicle.
This version has a well styled interior design with a car-like cabin which offers great comfort and plenty of space. It is said that this version is more refined and is a better drive than its predecessors. The better ride quality is put down to the 'stiffer' platform used. The interior design uses better quality material than previous versions.
Ford have used a new naming system on the Transit. Any Transit which is the smaller 1 tonne version is known as the Transit Custom and the larger 2 tonne versions use just the Transit name. One of the only things that slightly lets down the 2014 Transit is that it does not have as much storage space in the rear as some of the leading competitors.

As ever, the new Transit is available in several model variants, 450 to be exact! This is an incredible amount of models which are all powered by the 2.2L TDCi diesel engine which is available in either 100, 125 or 155PS. For a large panel van the Transit offers 44mpg which is pretty good. It is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox and there are front, rear and all-wheel drive versions available.
The model range includes: minibus, chassis-cab, double cab, three different lengths and two different heights available to name a few.
This is definitely a van worth considering as it has all the qualities of previous versions but with the inclusion of a better quality interior and better refinement.
