The new 2014 Mercedes C-Class will be available from June this year.

This will be the fourth generation of the C-Class which begun back in 1993. The C-Class competes with the likes of the BMW 3-Series and this latest version will certainly give BMW a run for their money.

The 2014 version is built with an aluminium-steel hybrid body which makes it almost 100kg lighter than its predecessor. It is also longer than the previous version by 95mm, measuring in at 4686mm and 80mm of this extra length is on the wheelbase to give more legroom for passengers.

The new version will initially only be available in 3 different engines: the C180 will have a 1.6L petrol engine, the C200 will have a 2.0L petrol and there will be one diesel engine which has a 2143cc (2.1L) diesel engine.

Hopefully not too long after the introduction of the new C-Class, there will be other engines available including: 1.6L diesel, 2.5L petrol and a 3.0L diesel/electric hybrid. There will be a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic gearboxes available depending on which engine you go for.

The new C-Class is set to be 20% more efficient than its predecessor due to the new engines and the new hybrid lightweight body.

As you would expect, there will be plenty of kit which will include a new touch-pad controller and collision detection. We look forward to the release of the new C-Class and hope to see it challenging the class leading BMW 3-Series.

The prices will begin at £26,855 for the new C-Class.
